Surface Finishing Based on the Approved Specification
External finishing gives an aluminium bottle its final colour, texture and branding surface. For OEM and private-label projects, the finish must be selected together with the bottle model, intended application, logo artwork and bulk-order requirements.
Common project options include the natural aluminium appearance, coloured finishes, matte or gloss effects and printed decoration. The available route depends on the bottle shape, surface area, colour requirement, artwork complexity and expected order quantity.
Before quotation, buyers should provide a reference colour, Pantone code where available, logo file, decoration area and estimated quantity. A physical reference sample is useful when the required colour or surface effect cannot be communicated accurately through digital images.
Preparing the Bottle Surface
Bottle bodies must be clean and suitable for external finishing. Oil, dust or surface contamination can affect colour adhesion, print definition and the appearance of the finished bottle.
Surface preparation is coordinated after washing and internal coating operations. The production route must protect the approved internal coating while preparing the exterior for colour finishing and decoration.
Different bottle shapes can produce different visual results. Shoulder curves, recessed areas and narrow diameters may affect colour coverage or the usable printing area. These details should be reviewed during sample development rather than after bulk printing begins.
See our washing, internal coating and curing page for the preceding production stage.
Colour and Finish Confirmation
Colour approval should be based on a physical sample whenever colour consistency is important. Screen displays, digital renderings and printed colour cards may not reproduce the final appearance accurately on aluminium.
The buyer should confirm:
- Colour reference or Pantone requirement
- Matte, gloss or other required surface effect
- Acceptable logo position and decoration area
- Closure colour and overall packaging appearance
- Any reference sample used as the approval standard
Minor visual differences can occur between materials, production batches and lighting conditions. Practical acceptance criteria should therefore be agreed before mass production.
Projects involving special colours or finishes may affect MOQ, sample cost and lead time because production setup and material preparation are required.
Artwork Review and Logo Printing
Logo production begins with suitable artwork, normally supplied as an editable vector file. Text size, line thickness, colour separation, print position and printable area are reviewed against the selected bottle.
Artwork should not be approved only as a flat digital file. Bottle curvature and shoulder shape can change how a logo appears when viewed on the finished container. A printed sample allows the buyer to confirm scale, alignment, colour and legibility before bulk decoration.
Available decoration routes are evaluated according to the artwork, bottle shape and quantity. Our colour, printing and logo branding page explains the broader OEM artwork and branding confirmation process.
Sample Approval Before Bulk Printing
The approved sample becomes the working reference for mass production. Approval should cover the bottle colour, finish, logo size, logo position, print colour and overall appearance.
Any artwork or colour change after approval can require another sample and may change cost or production scheduling. Buyers should consolidate revisions before final approval to avoid unnecessary setup and delay.
Existing-model samples generally reduce development time, while custom colours and printed samples require preparation based on the confirmed specification.
Inspection During Bulk Production
Printing and surface finishing are checked during production, not only after the full quantity is completed. Inspection focuses on colour consistency, print clarity, registration, logo position, scratches, dents, contamination and visible finish defects.
Finished bottles are compared with the approved sample and agreed specification. Acceptable appearance standards should reflect the bottle finish, decoration method and intended packaging use.
Later checks also cover neck dimensions, closure fit, packing protection and leakage where applicable. These controls are explained on our quality control and leak testing page.
For quotation, send the bottle model or capacity, required quantity, colour reference, finish, vector artwork, print colours, packaging requirements and destination market. These details help us assess the decoration route, sample process, practical MOQ and production lead time.
